Suunto and NOC*NSF Partnership

28/02/2006

PRESS RELEASE

Aalsmeer, February, 2006

The Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sports Confederation (NOC*NSF) considers Suunto t6 an essential training tool for athletes

Suunto and NOC*NSF have agreed upon a partnership. The partnership consists of supplying Suunto t6 heart rate monitors to the Topsport Expertise Centrum (TEC) of NOC*NSF. The Suunto t6 will be used for testing their top athletes and national teams.

Gerard Rietjens, exercise physiologist of the elite sport section of NOC*NSF, is closely involved in the project. "We consider Suunto t6 an essential training tool for our athletes. Due to the digital transmission, we do not face disturbance problems anymore. Secondly, due to the beat-to-beat analysis we are also able to get more relevant data out of a training session than just heart beats."

Founded in 1936 Suunto, headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Helsinki-based Amer Sports Corporation. True to its roots, Suunto has continued producing compasses for 70 years and is the world's biggest compass manufacturer. Suunto is also the leading manufacturer of sports instruments for a variety of activities, including training, golf, skiing, hiking, diving, and sailing. Besides NOC*NSF, many of the world's top athletes and teams in various sports are working with Suunto sports instruments.

The Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sports Confederation (NOC*NSF) is an umbrella organisation for sports in the Netherlands. More than 90 national sports federations, representing more than 4.7 million sports men and women, belonging to 30,000 sports clubs and associations, are affiliated to NOC*NSF. Their elite sports section is supporting more than 800 top class athletes and their coaches on their mission to become one of the top 10 countries in international sports.
