PGA Pro Davis Love III Promotes Suunto G6 - Golf's First "Wristop Launch Monitor"
Possessing one of the smoothest swings on the PGA Tour, Love relies on Suunto G6 daily to fine-tune tempo, rhythm and consistency.
A longtime devotee of Suunto snowsport computers, Love became a champion of the Suunto G6 after testing a pre-release unit in January. Worn like a watch, the Suunto G6 monitors tempo, rhythm, backswing length and club head speed with each stroke, providing instant feedback that allows golfers to feel and repeat the perfect swing.
"The Suunto G6 takes the guesswork out of improving your swing," says Davis Love III. "It's a professional tool that pinpoints areas for improvement and quantifies the feeling of a good swing. If your tempo is off by a few tenths of a second, or if your backswing is a few degrees too long, the Suunto G6 lets you know on the spot with total accuracy."
The son of respected golf teacher Davis Love II, Davis Love III perfected his golf swing at an early age. Since his professional debut in 1985, Love has won more than 10 PGA events including the 1997 PGA Championship. Love rates among the world's best golfers and currently ranks 10th on the PGA Money List.
"Davis was the first PGA pro to recognize the genius behind the Suunto G6, and we're honored to have his support," says Suunto North American General Manager Mike Dowse after signing the PGA veteran Davis Love III in a multi-year, international agreement to promote the new Suunto G6 wristop computer. "As a recreational snowboarder, he's familiar with the accuracy and built-in quality of Suunto altimeters. He knew the Suunto G6 would deliver on its promise."
Engineered for accuracy on par with professional launch monitors, the Suunto G6 contains three small censors called "accelerometers." With each swing - from the moment of takeaway to contact - the accelerometers work in concert to record 200-plus measurements per second. Employing proprietary Suunto algorithms, the Suunto G6 then transposes these measurements into four distinct swing components: tempo, rhythm, backswing length and club head speed.
Suunto G6 modes include Practice, Test, Game, and Time. Ideal for the driving range, Practice mode displays tempo, rhythm, length and club head speed after each stroke. Golfers can use the information to improve individual swing components and build overall consistency. When used in a game setting, Practice mode helps players translate their range work to the course. Designed for the driving range, Test mode monitors swing consistency and improvement with each club in the bag, from wedge through driver. Game mode keeps score in four popular game styles: scratch, strokeplay, stableford and match. It also records game statistics off the tee, in the fairway and on the green.
Suunto G6 player profile: Intermediate to professional golfers aiming to improve their swing and achieve consistency.
